Most Reverend Henry J. Mansell, dies at age 88

The Most Reverend Henry J. Mansell, Fourth Archbishop of Hartford, died on April 21, 2026,  at the age of 88. 

Friends and parishioners may pay their respects on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the St. Thomas Chapel at the Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Hartford, 467 Bloomfield Ave, Bloomfield, CT. Solemn Evening Prayer from the Office of the Dead will be celebrated at 6:30 pm.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 11:00 am, at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, 140 Farmington Ave, Hartford, CT, with the Most Reverend Christopher J. Coyne, Sixth Archbishop of Hartford, as principal celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.

“Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. May Perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the Faithful Departed thru the Mercy of God rest in peace”.
