Deacon Bill, Do I believe …
Welcome to August – St. John Fisher Style
You may remember the following offered by Deacon Bill during his homily at the beginning of the summer. Like any good teacher, we are checking in on your progress 😊
From Deacon Bill: Welcome to the summer months. For many, it marks a break in the normal routine. Like some teachers, I have a summer assignment for you. I want you to take some time, somewhere, somehow during the next three months (I promise to do the same.) During that time, look at the Holy Trinity acting in your life by asking yourself questions such as these:
- Do I believe that the Father loves me and seeks me out?
- Do I believe that the Father knew me from the moment of my conception?
- Do I believe that, more than anything else, the Father wants me to be with him forever?
- Do I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins?
- Do I believe that as a Christian, I am called to be Jesus for my family, for my friends, for strangers, for my enemies?
- Do I believe that the Holy Spirit breathes God’s life into all creation around me?
- Do I believe that the Holy Spirit is my guide?
- Do I believe that the Holy Spirit gave me gifts to use for the building up of the church?
- Do I believe that I am called to the Parish Community of John Fisher to use those gifts?
May these summer months continue to guide you to closer to the Holy Trinity and may these questions help you open yourself up to the abundant gifts of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit – all One!
