Each year, as the summer air begins to give way to the gentle coolness of autumn, the community gathers for a tradition that has become more than just a sporting event—it is a celebration of faith, fellowship, and purpose. On Thursday, September 18th, 2025, the Knights of Columbus will host their 12th Annual Golf Classic, aptly named Drive for the Fish, at the scenic Blackledge Country Club in Hebron, Connecticut.
The name carries meaning beyond the fairways and greens. The word “fish,” an early Christian symbol, reminds participants that this is not just a competition but a mission—a chance to support the works of the Church and community. From its earliest years, the tournament has brought together golfers of all skill levels, uniting them in laughter, camaraderie, and shared generosity.
The day begins with the sun rising over the lush Connecticut countryside. Golfers, dressed in polos and caps, gather with their teams, joking about past games, sizing up the competition, and shaking hands with new friends. The unmistakable Knights of Columbus crest shines proudly on the banners, reminding everyone of the brotherhood and service that bind them together. With every swing of the club, every putt sunk, and every cheer from the sidelines, the spirit of the event shines brighter.
Rain or shine, the tournament presses on. Some years, golfers have battled under gray skies, their umbrellas dotting the course, while in other years, the warmth of September has made the greens glow under clear blue skies. Organized under the patronage of St. John Fisher Parish in Marlborough, this event has become an anchor for parishioners and neighbors alike.
