Praying the Rosary is a traditional Catholic prayer that combines repeated vocal prayers with meditation on key events in the life of Jesus and Mary (called mysteries). Using a string of beads, the person moves through prayers like the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be, while reflecting on one mystery at a time—such as the Nativity, Crucifixion, or Resurrection.
In short, it’s a rhythmic, meditative prayer meant to draw the person closer to Christ through Mary’s perspective.

Fr. Federico - Vocations Director

Fr. Federico - Vocations Director
On Sunday, June 7th for Morning Masses,
We Welcome Father Anthony Federico
As you may know, Father Anthony Federico heads up the Vocations Ministry for the Archdiocese of Hartford. If you have yet to hear him speak or preach, you are in for an impactful, faith-filled and inspiring experience as we celebrate Mass together.
In addition to celebrating Mass with us, Father Federico will also share with us the Holy Spirit-inspired growth of seminarians and newly ordained priests within our archdiocese. It is wonderful news to welcome these men into their deeper journey of faith as they continue to learn and discern their future as priests.
With this wonderful reality comes a requirement from the Archbishop for each parish to support the costs associated with the education of the seminarians by contributing $10,000 annually into the Seminarian Education Fund. For the 2025-2026 fiscal year, our generous Knights of Columbus council contributed this entire amount. As we move into our new fiscal season, the Knights are hopeful (assuming their successful fund raising) to contribute $5,000 annually to this fund to benefit vocations.
Each of us have the opportunity to support these new seminarians – in prayer, as they continue their education and path to priesthood and in financial support, be it contributing during the special monthly collections (until we meet our annual goal) or a consideration to support this meaningful ministry with Individual Retirement Account (IRA) gifts or transfer of stock, bequests or including this ongoing need in your estate plans.
The seminarians of the Archdiocese of Hartford are primarily supported through the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, which funds the cost of seminarian education at a cost of roughly $65,000 per seminarian annually.
We wanted to let you know before the Masses on June 6th and 7th as we will have our first special monthly collection while Father Federico is with us that weekend. We will keep you all up-to-date on how our annual fundraising progresses. This effort will cover the July 2026 – June 2027 requirement.
Our future Hartford Archdiocesan priests thank you with sincere gratitude for your generous kindness as St. John Fisher parishioners!
