Mass Intentions
Did you realize . . .
One of the beautiful traditions we have within the Catholic faith is having a Mass offered for a loved one, whether living or deceased. By doing so, we ask that the fruits of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass be applied to that particular intention. As the Eucharist is the source and summit of our Christian life, offering a Mass for a loved one is a beautiful expression of faith.
Masses may also be offered in thanksgiving, to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary, or for other intentions. As we are reminded by the Council of Trent, the Mass may be offered “for the living and the dead, for sins, punishments, satisfactions, and other necessities.”
As St. Leonard of Port Maurice reminds us: “Let us be diligent in hearing Mass as often as possible, and with all possible devotion; and furthermore, let us endeavor to have as many Masses as possible celebrated for our intention.”
Mass intentions can be scheduled by contacting the St. John Fisher parish office at 860-295-0001. Intentions can be offered for both weekly and weekend Masses for both the living and deceased with a suggested donation of $15.00 for a weekly or a weekend Mass.
