We celebrated a lovely All Souls' evening Mass ministering to those who lost loved ones in this past year. Many thanks to our youth artists, Marina McLaughlin, Stella and Elle Boutilier, and Colin and Kelly Tracey who all created beautiful heartfelt personalized cards. Cathy and Jim Castellani and Sue Hurley provided the refreshments and beverages as we spent time together following the Mass. Thanks to all for creating such a special and nurturing evening.

Thank you to every member of St. John Fisher who supported my bake sale! I raised almost $800 which will definitely help me towards making my project possible. I am so happy I get to create a project that gives back to this great community of people! The leftover items will be donated to House of Bread in Hartford. Thanks,Hudson Visco
An email or set of emails have been sent using Father's name in the “From:" field of the email. If the email requests you send money via gift card(s) or other non-traditional forms of payment, don't do it! This is common SCAM sent to you in anticipation of fooling you out of your hard earned money. This form of SCAM is not unusual and there is very little you can do to prevent it.
Anyone receiving an email should be aware of how to check the origin of that email, be able to ascertain if it’s a legitimate request and follow-up with an inquiry if even the least bit suspicious. If you hover your cursor over the “To:" address in any email, you can usually see the actual email address that the message was sent from. You’ll see that the SCAM email is not from Father Al.
Do NOT click on any links. If you respond to the email to vent your anger and or frustration, YOUR email address will be added to the SCAMMERs collection to be used in future email SCAM compaigns. Delete the email message.
The Social Activities Committee is looking for anyone who might be willing to bake for events at St John Fisher Church. If you are willing to help in this way, please enter your information on the signup sheets at the entrances of the church. If you have been contacted in the past and would like to continue to help, please enter your information on the signup sheets so that we can keep this list current and up to date. Thank you.
As we begin a new season, we have two openings on our parish council. We are looking for an adult and a youth representative, grade 9 and above, to provide their input as we provide advice and support to Father Al and continue to advance the efforts of our many ministries and dedicated staff. We meet five times during the season (September, November, January, March and May) for a 7:00 pm session. Please consider joining our active team by offering your suggestions and insight supporting our St. John Fisher parish family. Please contact either Father Al or Barbara Meyers at
We needed 40+ volunteers to cook, bake, prep, and serve the Sunday Night Supper at St. Vincent de Paul in Middletown and YOU answered the call! The meals of meatloaf, potatoes, fresh vegetables, and cookies were a big hit. Please know you touched, affirmed and shared love with the patrons - you did what Jesus asks us to do as His hands and heart here on earth.
Many, many thanks!
We are pleased to announce our Faith Formation leadership team for this new academic year - please join us in formally welcoming Helena Thomas, Cindy Bryan, and Deacon Bill who are leading the following programs:
Cindy Bryan - Family Faith Formation for our elementary school families
Helena Thomas - The Sacramental year (s) programs for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation
Deacon Bill - Middle School program for grades 7 and 8
The various programs are kicking off in October. So, if you have not registered your child or if you would like further information, please connect with one of the leaders.
Looking forward to a wonderful year building the knowledge of our faith, demonstrating our faith and bringing the love, teachings and presence of Jesus into our homes, lives, and hearts.
Many thanks to all who continue to support our 10th grade Confirmation community, especially last weekend, by keeping the teens in your prayers and donating snacks and drinks for their retreat. Your generosity and support are deeply appreciated.
Cindy Bryan will be joining us, effective this Monday, September 18th as a Coordinator of Faith Formation. Cindy's responsibilities will cover the Family Faith Formation program for our elementary school families with intentional instruction for age/grade appropriate learning and the vacation bible program in the summer. Her responsibilities will also include oversite and support (as needed) for the middle school program that Deacon Bill and his wife Eileen are teaching.
How would you like to join a sewing group in creating our beautiful baptismal gowns? We will provide directions, a pattern and a creative-minded community coming together to create these gowns while praying for the child who receives it. This is such a beautiful way to participate in celebrating our youngest parishioners, along with their families, in the Sacrament of Baptism. Please contact Heather in our church office if you are interested.
The Social Activities Committee at St John Fisher Church is looking for people who would be interested in planning and or organizing events for the coming year. If you can help in any way, please contact Chris Warchut at
