As you may know, The Marlborough Congregational Church sponsors a monthly Drive-Thru Café that provides dinners to patrons of the Food Bank of Marlborough and residents at Florence Lord Housing. St. John Fisher's Christian Outreach Committee provides assistance by staffing the café a few times per year. To date, our parish has prepared and delivered 6 monthly meals to feed 60, most recently January 2018.
In January, the Christian Outreach Committee was assisted by four confirmation candidates and their families in the preparation and of 10 meals and 10 dozen cookies and staffing the cafe. For this month's meal, we encourage old and new parishioners to get involved with this fun and rewarding service opportunity.
On Sunday, March 25, we will again be providing the meal and are looking for cooks, servers and bakers. We recognize this is Palm Sunday, but hope you consider this service opportunity as part of your Lenten journey. Sign-up sheets are at both church exits.
Needed to assist on this event:
- 10 cooks to each provide a rneal to serve 6 — pasta with meat sauce (chef's choice —no restrictions), 1 pound frozen green beans, a small loaf of Italian bread.
- 2 bakers to each make/purchase 5 dozen cookies/brownies bagged two per baggie.
- 10 servers to be at the Congragational Church from 4:15 PM to about 6:00 PM. A delivery to some residents at Florence Lord Housing is also made. At about 6:00 PM, the servers break bread together and share a community meal.
Individuals, couples, and families are welcomed and encouraged to participate in opportunity to serve the community with your parish family. There is a sign-up sheet at the back of the church. Whether you can cook or bake or serve, or all 3, please sign up. Many thanks.
