St. John Fisher Roman Catholic Church

30 Jones Hollow Road, Marlborough, CT 06447

The St. John Fisher Confirmation Program begins in 9th grade with a year of preparation before students receive the Sacrament at the beginning of their 10th grade year.  The program consists of a series of sessions that draw young people into a deeper faith as they enter into full membership in the Catholic Church.

Elements of the program:

•    Choosing a Sponsor to provide spiritual guidance throughout the sacramental journey
•    Choosing a Saint Name that represents something meaningful to the candidate
•    Completed Christian Service Projects totaling 14 hours

In this season of giving and joyful anticipation, our Confirmation community has been out serving hundreds of people through various service projects.

This remarkable class is responding to the call to discipleship, living the Corporal Works of Mercy. They are a beautiful example of faith in action. Also, we so appreciate the adults who have supported our youth in these activities.

Special thanks to our Confirmation Community and all those that attended our 9th annual Soup for A Cause event. Those who attended enjoyed a wonderful evening including 17 different delicious soups as well as incredible service by our 9th graders, great conversation with fellow parishioners and best of all helped to raise $1500.00 to benefit the House of Breads Kid's Café. Thank you to all who made the evening such a success including our donors, hometown chefs, parents and especially our amazing ninth grade Confirmation Community.

The Confirmation Community's

Annual Help Us Help Others
collection is scheduled for Saturday, April 28th from 11:30-3:00pm.

All donations will benefit organizations that we support during the year. Items to donate include: household items in good condition such as dishes, glasses, flatware, towels, linens, lights, furniture, as well as books (no reference or text books please). Please be sure all your donations are clean and in working order.

The holiday season was a busy one for the Confirmation Community, actively living out their call to discipleship.

A few ways we did this include:

  • Making sandwiches for the clients at House of Bread
  • Baking and decorating cookies with the children at the Hartford Catholic Worker House
  • Making Christmas decorations for Adelbrook
  • Decorating gingerbread houses for the Marlborough Health Care Center
  • Helping at the family party at the MHCC
  • Making no-sew blankets for children in shelters
  • Wrapping Christmas gifts for the clients at MHCC
  • Making candy bags for Immacare and House of Bread
  • Worked with other parishes to make Christmas bags for the clients at Immacare.

Please continue to pray for these amazing young people as they fully embrace their faith by letting God’s light shine through them as they build community and relationships with others.
