I would like to thank all of the Faith Formation Families for their support of our fundraiser to fight Global Hunger. The St John Fisher community truly appreciates all of the items that you donated for the raffle baskets. We sold about $900 worth of raffle tickets thanks to your generosity. All of these proceeds are going to our Global Packaging Event where we will be packaging and sending 10,000 meals to Burkina Faso, an area in western Africa that struggles with drought, disease, famine and starvation.  Our Helping Hands Coffee House, raffle, silent auction and t-shirt sales have all been a huge success and although I do not have a final count yet, I am sure that we have far surpassed our goals. We may be able to send even more meals than expected thanks to all of your generosity!

Adult Confirmation – Preparation Series – Begins January 29, 2019

John 6:27 “Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him the Father, God, has set his seal.

adult confirmationAre you seeking to come into full communion with the Church by receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation? Then - Come join us! On January 29, 2019 at 7:00 PM, St. John Fisher Church is beginning a series of discussions for those interested in preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation is the final Sacrament among the Sacraments of Initiation (along with Baptism and Holy Communion). It is NOT the end, but the “beginning” of one’s entry into full communion with the Catholic Church, the proclaiming and acknowledgement of our Baptismal vows. You are invited to inquire and participate.

So what is Advent and what does it mean to your family? Advent comes from the Latin word meaning “coming”. Advent is a season of preparation for Jesus’ arrival. The purple color associated with Advent is the color of penance. Rose, the color of the Third Sunday, symbolizes joy and represents the happiness we will experience when Jesus comes again. So how do our children and we celebrate this season:

silhouette ill do itFaith Formation Registration is being wrapped-up. Except for one class, all volunteer catechist positions are filled. We need a volunteer catechist to teach 6th grade. This class had 2 wonderful teen volunteers for many years, however these girls have graduated and are now at UCONN. Unfortunately, we've had no luck in finding replacements for them so far. Please let me know if any of you are interested in teaching OR if you have a teenager interested in teaching OR if you know someone who may want to teach.

This year we have been blessed to have most teachers return. Also we are lucky to have a new parent to teach first grade. We recruited 2 former parents, who no longer have students in MES, to return as volunteer catechists to teach 1st and 3rd so there is a lot to be thankful for!

Many thanks to everyone who donated items for the Confirmation retreat dinner on Saturday, September 16th.
Thanks to your generosity the 10th grade class enjoyed a wonderful taco dinner. Special thanks to the Teen Emmaus team for creating a beautiful space for the 10th grade to gather for their retreat.
We greatly appreciate the support of the parish as these young men and women take the final steps toward Confirmation.

A huge thank you to all the families, children and volunteers who  made  our St. John Fisher Bible Camp a big success! Our parish is blessed  to have such a wonderful, devoted group of teens who made every day fun: Tylor, Lea, Denise, Aiden, Jacob, Rosie, Teresa, Jenna, Caroline, Ellie, Marybeth & Shannon.

Also, thanks to Jonathan and David for their musical support and the Dursin, Farrington, Visco and Meyer families for all their help!
