As we fully embrace the season of summer, we hope that you can slow down a bit, exhale and find the space to grow in your relationship with God. Summer often affords us the opportunity to reexamine our days and reset our routines. Perhaps you can find time to enhance you faith. In the coming weeks, we will share different prayer resources that might be helpful. Always remember that we are all beloved children of God, made in His likeness and image and that this
relationship is worthy of your time and energy. An easy way to grow this relationship is to consider attending daily Mass.
At St. John Fisher, daily Mass is celebrated Monday through Thursday at 8:30 am as well as 10:00am on WJMJ. Pope Francis reminds us that the Eucharist “is not a prize for the perfect but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the
weak.” He goes on to say that “Who, after all, on careful selfexamination, finds himself to be truly “worthy” to receive the Lord in Holy Communion? The Eucharist is no gold star on the forehead of “good” Christians, but an undeserved gift to strengthen pilgrims who stumble along through life with their gaze fixed on heaven.” The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith.
It is a beautiful and powerful gift that we have the opportunity to gather together and celebrate the Mass. Start your day in the presence of God. Jesus made it clear by word and action that our church is for the ordinary, who in God’s eyes are extraordinary. Mass not only reminds us of our role in a community of believers, but that we do not journey alone. Our faithful companions greet us with a smile at the beginning of Mass, a wave during the sign of peace or a thoughtful word on the way out. Give yourself the gift of starting your day in the presence of God in the community of others.
