"Rite of Sending"
".the doors are opened wide for you to enter the Church."
On Sunday, March 10, 2019, at the 8:30am Mass the entire St. John Fisher Parish has the great honor of recommending Jared Stearns (catechumen) of our RCIA process to Archbishop Leonard Blair in a special ceremony the Rite of Sending.
This celebration marks the beginning of his third phase of study and preparation in the RCIA process the "Period of Purification and Enlightenment." The Rite of Sending is our celebration to laud his continued progress towards full communion with the Church during which he also publically affirms his desire to continue his religious instructions on his journey. In the afternoon of March 10th Jared will be formally presented and recommended to Archbishop Blair during the Archdiocesan-wide Rite of Election services at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford. We offer congratulations to Jared upon his successful completion of preparatory catechetical studies leading him to a fuller understanding and acceptance of the doctrines and principles of our shared Catholic faith. We are blessed and honored with the responsibility of nurturing him throughout his "Journey of Faith." Please keep Jared his sponsor and his family in your prayers especially during this Lenten season. His preparation will culminate with his receipt of the Sacraments of Baptism Holy Eucharist and Confirmation during the Easter Vigil (Holy Saturday) Mass on April 20, 2019.
Sincere thanks is extended to all who have assisted in his studies and to all who have welcomed Jared his wife Nora and his boys Jack and Eli into our parish family. Each parishioner of St. John Fisher Church is asked to seize the opportunity to introduce yourself to Jared and his family and to welcome them to the Church and to our parish. Thank you. Alleluia! Alleluia!
