On behalf of the entire Confirmation community, special thanks to Kurt Filosa, who after three years of guiding our teens through the final steps of their Catholic initiation, will be retiring from the Confirmation team. We so appreciate his  assion for his faith, his dedication to our teens and his commitment to our program. We would also like to thank the following people for volunteering their time to make our Confirmation celebration such a special occasion: Gil Thompson for videorecording our services; Jim Castellani for supporting Gil and taking photographs of our teens; and, Barbara Gaudette for making red masks for the teens to ensure their safety. And lastly, a huge thank you to Jennifer O’Neill, who  worked so hard to prepare our teens and to make their Confirmation day so special. We are blessed not only for these individuals, but also for all the prayers bestowed upon our teens during their preparation.

The USCCB reminds us that we are invited to answer the Holy Father's request to join with many people worldwide in praying this intention for April:

Fundamental Rights
We pray for those who risk their lives while fighting for fundamental rights under dictatorships, authoritarian regimes and even in democracies in crisis.

Established in 2000 by Pope John Paul II, Divine Mercy Sunday focuses on the gift of mercy and love given through Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. As Pope John Paul II stated, “Divine Mercy reaches human beings through the  heart of Christ crucified.” Divine Mercy Sunday is a beautiful reminder during the season of Easter of God’s love and grace for all of us

Please consider supporting the teen program 500 Acts in 5 hours, where our high school teens are being invited to complete 500 acts of service in five hours during April vacation.  Contact Jen O’Neill at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.with any questions. Thank you in advance for your support of our teens. We would greatly appreciate help in any of the following ways:

Make a monetary donation: Donations can be brought to the church and left in the mailbox by the office or dropped off at the office during business hours or at Mass.  Please make a note on the check if it is for this project;
Help secure small: prizes for the participation teens ($5 gift cards, candy . . . );
Help secure donations: such as individually wrapped snacks and drinks for the teens;
Help coordinate lunch.
Help with set up or clean up.
Be a mentor.

Please make any checks out to Saint John Fisher Church with a note indicating that it is for this project

CRS Rice Bowls will be collected starting this week through April 25th. You may bring your donation to the church any time during office hours or put it in the weekly Mass collection in a envelope labeled Rice Bowl.  All checks should be made payable to St. John Fisher Church. Through your generosity, Catholic Relief Service will continue to provide services and advocate for our most vulnerable brothers and sisters.  25% of all funds collected through CRS Rice Bowl stays within the local diocese to support hunger relief efforts.

Date: Saturday, April 3
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Place: Meet outside St John Fisher Hall door

There will be a few modifications for health and safety, but children can hunt for candy and special eggs and there will even be a visit by the Easter Bunny himself!

This year, we are requesting RSVPs. Please RSVP to Theresa Brysgel at (860)8302194 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

As we enter Holy Week and celebrate Palm Sunday, let’s reflect on how our Lord suffered from our indifference: those who proclaimed him king of Jerusalem were the same who called to crucify him. We recognize we are all one human family. Are we contributing to the suffering of our sisters and brothers with our indifference to their realities? How does our faith inspire us to care for them and share the gifts that God has bestowed on us? Visit crsricebowl.org to learn more.
