Completed origami hearts are still being collected and can be left in the baskets at the entrances to the church.

candyThe Confirmation class will once again be collecting leftover Halloween candy this year. All candy may be left in the baskets at the entrances of the church after October 31st.

At the SJF Parish Family picnic, our Lending Library was re-launched and dedicated to our long-time parishioner, Robert Vontell. With Bob's passing, he and his family asked for donations to be made to the faith formation efforts in our parish.

In addition to helping our youth and adult programs, funds were used to update and purchase new books for our Lending Library for all our parishioners to access in building their faith.

Please stop down to see the newly-launched Lending Library (beneath the stairs) with easy to access color-coded categories, a new beautifully handmade bookcase, a new sign with Bob's dedication and a wonderful selection of books for all ages to help build and support your faith.

Getting Ahead is a program that engages area families who are struggling to make ends meet. Getting Ahead is an intense program that explores the challenges of living in poverty, as well as the mindset of people living in the middle class and those living in wealth.

Volunteer allies are needed to support participants through the program. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least a year of encouraging and meeting with their family.

There will be an information meeting to learn more on Wednesday, October 23, from 6-7:30 PM at Gilead Congregational Church, 672 Gilead Street, Hebron CT.

Please call Stephanie Haines at 860-228-3077 if interested in volunteering or if you would like more information about this opportunity.

House of BreadOn November 19th, The House of Bread manager is coming out to speak to our Faith Formation class. The children will be wrapping packages of socks that they donated, putting them in a large stocking that we will give to The House of Bread.

The House of Bread has a 5 Days Of Christmas event where they give the people who eat and live there a gift, each day, for 5 days leading up to Christmas. Our large stocking filled with wrapped socks will be our contribution.

A Place For SamOn October 29th Shawn Elizabeth George, an inspirational author and presenter, will be speaking to all of our Faith Formation classes, grades 1-6, at Marlborough Elementary School Community Room from 3:30-4:30. Shawn wrote a book called "A Place For Sam" about a puzzle piece who is trying to fit in and it gives children hope and reassurance that God made them all special and that they all have a place where they "fit in".

We pray: “God of Creation, we pray that we may be good stewards of all you have given us and prophetic advocates of our brothers and sisters who suffer most from climate change.”

CRS logoCatholic Relief Services reminds us to pray for those who do not have access to nutritious food as World Food Day approaches on October 16. World Food Day is celebrated internationally, bringing attention to more than 820 million people who suffer from hunger. The goal is simple: ensuring there is enough nutritious food for everyone everywhere. Unfortunately, the solution is incredibly complicated, especially with factors such as global migration and climate change impacting hunger and food availability. Commit to remembering in prayer our brothers and sisters who go hungry and are denied having their basic needs met.
