sownsoilLast weekend we opened for Saturday and Sunday Masses, and all went very smoothly. Many thanks to everyone who used the Mass registration links and who provided their proof of registration upon arriving for Mass. We were 100% compliant! We will continue to use the main entrance to welcome parishioners. If you need access to the side ramp, please have someone in your party let the greeter know, and the side door will be opened for you. Leaving the church using both doors is perfectly fine. Use of masks and proper social distancing of six feet apart—both while seated and while walking within church—are all standard practice. The church will be cleaned after each Mass (during the week and on weekends).

REMINDER: Masses on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. will require pre-registration using a link on this website or on our Facebook page. Registration is needed to stay within our maximum attendance of 44 parishioners. Once you register, an email confirmation will be sent to you. This confirmation should either be printed or shown via your phone to the greeter at the main entrance who is responsible for keeping the attendance to 44 and communicating the use of masks and social distancing. For those not attending Mass in person, Father Sas will continue offering online Mass accessible on our parish website beginning on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.  For this weekend, Sunday, July 12, the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we thank Gil Thompson and Nancy Aniolek for recording, Will Shoen for reading, and Kathleen Filosa, Carolyn Henderson, and Janice Reska for providing music.

BulletinThe church bulletin will once again be available. We will not distribute it as a paper copy but rather via a link on this website. Please click here to access the bulletin. We encourage you to remember the businesses that support St. John Fisher through their bulletin advertisements. Both St. John Fisher and the advertisers thank you for your patronage of these businesses.

Our second grade class has been waiting patiently to receive their First Holy Communion and we are excited to announce that we have a date! Thirteen beautiful St. John Fisher children will receive the Eucharist for the first time on Saturday, September 19. Details have been sent to their families. Please keep these children and their families in your prayers as they prepare for this big day!

BOOK The Passion and the CrossOur parish Book Club with Father Sas continues on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in our downstairs hall. The book, The Passion and the Cross by Ronald Rolheiser, is proving to be an interesting and very compelling read, and our conversations on each chapter have been very inspiring and thought provoking. For this week, we are on Chapter 3 and all are welcome even if you have not attended yet. Use of masks and social distancing are in place.

St. John Fisher is offering Daily Mass every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Appropriate social distancing, disinfecting and use of masks will be in place. MurangaThe 2020 Mission Cooperative Appeal Collection will be taken as a second collection next weekend (July 18-19).  Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the representatives are not able to be with us this year; however, although physically distant, we have the opportunity to be present to them through our spiritual and financial support.  The ministries of The Diocese of Muranga, Kenya will benefit from our parish’s generosity.  Our assistance will help with them with: the education and feeding of 600 orphaned children within the Diocese, the formation of 86 major seminarians and medication for children and adults in diocesan hospitals who are HIV-positive.  Our sharing in response to Christ’s call that we “love one another” will bring His hope into the lives of many.   We ask your generous response.

Checks may be made out to The Catholic Mission Aid Office.  On their behalf, thank you.

Noahs ArkWe are eagerly looking forward to the day when we could meet in person. For now, we can meet virtually! Check out the St John Fisher Facebook page which is full of books, coloring pages and craft ideas for pre-school aged children.

This months theme is Noah’s Ark.

Feel free to pick up a fun activity bag in the lobby of the church for your child.
Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your child’s name and age and Amy will be sure to leave a bag for them in the church foyer. Thank you Amy!

Jungle SafariChildren entering grades K-6 are invited to join us on a Jungle Safari as we SWING through summer and have a ROARING good time, learning more about the REAL KING of the Jungle! St. John Fisher is thrilled to be offering our annual Vacation Bible Camp, but this year due to state and health guidelines, it will look a little different!

DATE: Monday July 27- Thursday July 30
TIME: 9:30 a.m.-10:15 a.m. for Outdoor Activities at Church. After 10:15, an Activity Pack—with virtual activities, craft and science kits, reading material, game packs, family prayer suggestions, and more—will be sent home each day for children to enjoy.

ComeToMeJesus said, "Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30). If the trials of the past few months have taught us anything, it is that we are not promised a life free of burdens. In the Gospel for this 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Jesus gives us permission to rest from the heavy burdens we carry. We rest in the knowledge that God is always with us and knows what we need in every moment.

This week marks the resumption of weekend Masses in the Hartford Archdiocese. Our Masses on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. will require pre-registration using a link on this website under "Mass Attendance Reservations" or on our Facebook page.

Father Sas will also be offering online Mass, Sunday, July 5, the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Thank you to Gil Thompson and Nancy Aniolek for recording, Paulette Adams for reading, and Kathleen Filosa, Carolyn Henderson, and Janice Reska for providing music. The Mass will be available on our parish website on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

The annual Catholic Social Justice conference is being offered free of charge but virtually this year. The theme of "Rooted In Faith, Opening Wide our Hearts" is especially meaningful and a calling to each of us as our nation deals with issues of racism and inequality. This virtual conference features speakers once a month and responds to the US Bishops Letter Against Racism. The next session is offered on July 8th at 7:00 p.m. with Chris Doucot, the founder of the Hartford Catholic Worker Community. There are speakers scheduled monthly through April 2021. Please access this link to see the entire speaker line up and to register for the July offering. Registration is required to access the online presentation.

Our book club, which began this past Tuesday, will now continue each Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. either outside (please remember to bring a chair) or inside in the hall, where masks are required and social distancing will be in place.
