Many, many years ago Art Linkletter (you have to be of a certain age to remember him) had a TV show which gave birth to a book called, Kids Say the Darndest Things. And they do. One grandfather told me of his grandson’s coming to church with his mother and asking where Jesus was. She was patiently explaining about Jesus’ presence in the tabernacle when the child exclaimed’ “There he is,” pointing to the crucifix suspended over the altar, “on the trapeze”. Bil Keane, author of The Family Circus, one time drew a cartoon in which one of the children, I believe it was Billy, was pointing to a picture of Jesus in the manger and saying: “Look at this one, Mommy! Baby Jesus/ in a nest!”
We are very grateful to those who have made a pledge to our 2016 Annual Collection. Your generosity will greatly benefit our parish. Thank you for your care and concern for our St. John Fisher Parish Family
"Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
Many thanks for the generous donations and hands that made over 100 bags for the men at The Immacare Shelter. Not only did we make bags for the shelter, but the extra snacks have gone to St. Vincent dePaul in Middletown and to the the children at the Catholic Worker House.
Spreading Christmas Cheer
Once again, the St. John Fisher parish has put smiles on the faces of residents at the Marlborough Health Care Center by singing Christmas Carols to them and with them!
Thank you to all that participated this year!
Christmas Caroling at the Marlborough Health Care Center
Date: Wednesday, December 7th
Time: 6:30 pm
Place: Meet at the Health Care Center @ 85 Stage Harbor Road
“…the doors are opened wide for you to enter the Church”.
Please join in celebration as we support Dawn Herman, Michelle Lea and Jason Melquist as they continue their progression through the RCIA process. On Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the 8:30 AM mass we will celebrate the Rite Of Acceptance with them. This Rite concludes the initial phase of their “Journey Of Faith.” Dawn, Michelle and Jason will continue to pray, study and participate in regular discussion sessions as they work toward achieving full communion with the universal Catholic Church. The Rite of Acceptance marks a new beginning of enlightenment, prayer, study and welcome into the faith and into our parish. They will now be focusing on the Sacraments, Church History, and Catholic Life and Morality, always guided by the Scriptures. We will now explore with them the heart of Catholic doctrine and tradition. As fellow parishioners in faith, please accept your role by reaching out and welcoming our catechumen and candidates, their families and sponsors. Join together as we enter this new phase of inspiration, and prepare for the approaching Lenten season celebrating with our new sisters and brother in Christ Jesus’ name.
St. John Fisher has an opening for a part-time Director of Faith Formation (14-16 hours per week).
Interested candidates should submit cover letter and resume to:
