Melanie Cama, Program Director of the Hospice and Palliative Care Program at Middlesex Hospital, delivered an engaging presentation November 15, 2016 in St. Thomas Moore Hall covering the importance of sharing end of life wishes with loved ones.  Cama used an interactive card game, GO WISH, to facilitate the conversation and each attendee was given a free deck to take home.   According to the game developer, Coda Alliance, GO WISH allows you to think and talk about a serious subject in an easy and entertaining manner.

If you did not attend the presentation but are interested in the topic, an audio recording of the live presentation is provided along with handouts.  You can determine what your wishes are by accessing the online version of the GO WISH card deck.

A St. John Fisher parishioner, Cama is an RN with 22 years of experience in a wide variety of settings with 14 years in hospice and palliative care.  She holds a BSN and MSN, and is a certified Hospice and Palliative Care Administrator (CHPCA).  She is Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certified (NEA-BC).  As the Hospice and Palliative Care Program Director, Cama is responsible for the hospice and palliative care home care programs as well as the 12 bed inpatient unit and Quality of Life Team. She has been instrumental in the advancement of integrated palliative care throughout the Middlesex Healthcare System.  In 2015, Cama was presented the HPCC CHPCA® Certificant of the Year Award by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She was selected for her contributions to end-of-life care.  For more information on this topic, contact Melanie Cama directly through Middlesex Hospital:  This email address is being protected from spambots.
