Hope is something that is very important to have. Whether one is losing in a sports game, or even more important, like a child hoping to have a place called home. When I think of home, I think of having food on the table and having a bed to go to sleep in. The reality of this vision of home isn’t the same for everyone. I experienced this when I went to the Catholic Worker House. At the Catholic Worker House I had the opportunity to just be a friend to the kids who didn't have that vision of home to go to. This experience changed my life because it made me even more thankful for the life that I live and also thankful for the loving family and community that surrounds me. I hope this vision of home is something that can become a reality for the children at the Catholic Worker House and I hope they have friends in their lives that accept them and can help them see hope in the future.

catholicschoolsThe HOPES Collection significantly benefits the Catholic elementary schools of the Archdiocese of Hartford by providing schools with individual HOPES Grants. These grants support a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn about Jesus Christ, fund innovative educational technology, create future active Catholic parish and community leaders, and market Catholic schools as “centers of excellence.” The collection also supports the broadbased marketing and promotion of Catholic schools. Please help us provide a culture of faith and academic excellence to elementary school students by giving to the 2018 Catholic elementary school HOPES Collection on the weekend of September 22/23. backpack3Many thanks for another successful back-to-school drive to help prepare our Marlborough Elementary and RHAM Middle and High School students for a successful year of learning and growing. These students and their families are grateful for your generosity and the opportunities you have afforded them. We have a glorious and caring St. John Fisher family!

Help support retreat leader, Tony Belizzi’s “Performing Life Project” which sells bracelets made in Bolivia by youths living in poverty. The bracelets sell for $2.00-$5.00, and make it possible for young people to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families. They will be on sale after the 4:00pm Mass on Saturday, September 15th. This is a great help for the Bolivian youth since there is no market for their work where they live.

Girl Pray 01Lord Jesus, help me as I begin this new school year.

Help me to use the gifts you have given me to the best of my ability.

Open my eyes to the new challenges and opportunities that this new school year may bring.

Help me to face these challenges and opportunities with excitement and enthusiasm, knowing that with your help I will succeed.
